Hinode-machi

Hinode-machi, offering walks through the city as well as the mountains. Shrines, temples, and spiritual sites dot the woodland areas. At an elevation of 902 m, Mt. Hinode overlooks the Kanto Plain. The 80-year-old Shinonome Sanso inn with a wood stove and no gas or running water requires reservations to stay.

Mt. Hinode, a mountain of natural beauty

Mt. Hinode, a mountain of natural beauty

After walking uphill for about 15 minutes, we came across a cool waterfall!
The waterfall was like an oasis in the desert in the sweltering heat.
The sound of the cool water echoing through the mountains was nice and soothing.
I didn't even realize how difficult it was!

The weather was a bit hot, but the stunning view of Mount Hinode made up for it!
Tsurtsuru Onsen

Tsurtsuru Onsen

Coming down from the mountain and taking a bus to get to Tsurutsuru Onsen, which is located close by.
This is a natural hot spring that opened in November 1996 and is said to be characterized by highly alkaline water from 1500 meters underground!
Immerse yourself in the hot spring water and you'll feel like you've just been rejuvenated.
I ate a lot.

I ate a lot.

Before enjoying the onsen, we had lunch at the panoramic restaurant located inside the onsen. We had a hearty lunch of soba, tempura, wedge potatoes, and beer (*'▽').
After a long hike, you deserve a cold beer.

Hinode, House of the Sun, Samurai Mansion

Hinode, House of the Sun, Samurai Mansion

It's a Japanese mansion built by a local wealthy person (village headman) in the 14th year of the Meiji era,
and it's been recreated as a motif in a famous Japanese game. On weekends, it bustles with people cosplaying.

After experiencing the unique samurai adventure, we went to a restaurant near Musashi-Ikuta Station for lunch!
It was an impressive place with a simple Japanese tatami room, and everything from vegetables grown on site to handmade noodles was impeccable... Truly delicious without any flaws.
